Membrane Performance

Performance

It is expected that the system will provide a continuous discharge stream at the rated flow, with little operator attention. Automation maintains the pretreatment, while backflushing maintains the membrane output. The operators' main task will be to trend the operation of the system - thereby anticipating sludge removal, membrane cleaning and other maintenance activities.

The discharge water will meet all metal discharge requirements. These parameters will be stated in the purchase order and agreed to by both parties prior to acceptance of the purchase order.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE:

To achieve optimum performance and ensure that the performance guarantees will be achieved, the following recommendations are presented covering preventative maintenance and operator duties.

1. Maintain proper feed collection/equalization tank volumes.
2. Maintain the proper solids level in the feed tank by continuous or time cycle discharge. High solids content will cause the membrane filters to prematurely foul, requiring additional backflush cycles to maintain the rated flow.
3. Maintain proper air pressure and volume to the system.
4. Ensure that the pretreatment system is fully operational with frequent inspection of the mixers, interconnections and chemical volume.
5. Routinely calibrate all instrumentation.
6. Check operation of the pump seals, lubrication and impeller integrity as recommended in the Operators Manual provided with the system.

STARTUP REQUIREMENTS:

DTW Systems will provide on-site operator training prior to the delivery of the system. An operator's manual will be presented. Experience dictates that the operators will have numerous suggestions in the operational aspects of the equipment that can be addressed in a fiscally responsible manner prior to the equipment shipping. DTW Systems will work with the customer to ensure that these issues are addressed and modified as required.

Upon the initial startup of the system with process water, all interlocks and control functions will be demonstrated in accordance with the issued Operating Manual.

Typically, the quality of the effluent will be proven by a performance demonstration consisting of one (1) sixteen-hour (16 hour) day of operation under normal hydraulic & contaminant loading to be performed at a mutually agreed time chemical startup of the full system. The customer will take samples of both the influent and effluent for analysis to confirm performance on-site and be responsible for the lab analysis. Upon completion of the chemical startup and successful demonstration of meeting the required discharge limits, the DTW Systems filtration system will be deemed 100% completed. The discharge parameters will be discussed and agreed upon as part of the overall specification.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE:

The DTW Systems 0.2-micron Microdyn membrane modules are guaranteed for a period of 6 months against defects in material and workmanship. DTW Systems may repair, remove or replace failed membrane modules at its sole discretion to ensure proper operation of the system. An option is presented for a two-year warranty versus a lease option for the membranes.

There is no warranty with respect to equipment or parts manufactured by independent suppliers other than that authorized by the vendor. All major components have a stated warranty of 1 years. DTW Systems will attempt to secure replacement parts for any component that fails due to workmanship or normal use during the warranty period. Installation of warranty parts is available at additional cost. Due to the volume of components used by DTW Systems, warranty claims with the vendors are not a major concern.

Not all items will have a warranty.
  • Pump seals
  • Metering pump diaphragms
  • AOD diaphragms
  • PH/ORP probes
  • ASCO solenoid valves have a one-year warranty

The DTW Systems treatment system shall be free of material or workmanship defects for a period of one calendar year following start-up.

DTW Systems warrants that for twenty-four months following full system performance acceptance, the system as defined herein will produce a discharge or effluent which is free of particles greater than .2 micron in size, provided the pretreatment chemistry is maintained per the operating manual. DTW Systems will offer its services at fee schedule rates to investigate and assist in correcting operating problems, provide on-site operator training and improve the operation of the system. The cost of this service agreement is provided in the cost section of the proposal. DTW Systems will make quarterly service calls for a two-year period.
